‘X marks the spot’ was an installation that brought together a curated body of works in a museumdisplay inspired setting with a reference to an active excavation site.
By combining different works in this new context each work functioned in a new manner.
The themes in-between the works variate, some are referencing to bodies, mummies or crime scenes. Others are pointing in the direction of objects where the the right way of usage got lost in time. Some objects seem religious and others make a link to comic-wise imagery. Together these objects form an overview of what could have been a lost civilization. The display flirts with how objects are displayed in museums. Parts of the display refer to the suggestive origin of the objects, a messy and muddy ground. Although these shapes are put there in a pleasing and esthetically manner if like they were orchestrated and structured.
The installation display was shown at Grafixx Festval at De Studio in Antwerp on 27th and 28th of November 2021
